It was reported by Ibn A-Suni in ‘Amaal Al-Yawm wa Al-Laylah from the route of ‘Atiyyah Al-‘Awfi on the authority of Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri, may Allaah be pleased with him, as a Marfoo‘  Hadeeth that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever wakes up from sleeping and says: "Subhaan Al-Lathi Yuhyee wa Yumeetu wa Huwa ‘Ala Kulli Shayin Qadeer. Allahumma Ighfir li Thunubi Yawma Tab‘athni min Qabri. Allahumma Qinee ‘Athabaka yawma Tab‘athu ‘Ibadaka. (Exalted is the One Who gives life and causes death. He is over all things Omnipotent. O Allah, forgive me for my sins when you resurrect me from my grave. O Allah, save me from Your punishment on the Day on which You would resurrect Your slaves. Upon this Allah, The Almighty, Says as what is stated above.

It was reported from the route of ‘Atiyyah Al-‘Awfi by Al-Kharaa'idi in Makaarim Al-Akhlaaq (923), Al-Baghawi in Musnad ibn Al-Ja‘d (2037), Muhammad ibn Fudhayl Adh-Dhabi in Ad-Du‘aa' (125). Its Isnaad (i.e. chain of transmission) is weak because ‘Atiyyah Al-‘Awfi is weak. He was deemed weak by Sufyaan Ath-Thawri, Hushaym ibn Basheer, Yahya ibn Ma‘een, Abu Haatim, An-Nasaa'i, Ad-Daarqutuni and some other scholars (1). Refer to Al-Jaami‘ Al-Kabeer (5843), As-Silsilah Adh-Dha‘eefah (2638) and Dha‘eef Al-Jaami‘ (365).
