(10) It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “If one does Hajj (i.e. pilgrimage) with haraam (unlawful) money and says, ‘Labbayk Allaahumma labbayk (Here I am, O Allaah, here I am),’ Allah, The Almighty, says: ‘I will not respond to you and your Hajj is rejected.’”

The Verification of the Hadeeth: Its Isnaad (i.e. chain of transmission) is weak.

It was reported by ibn ‘Addy in Al-Kaamil (3/106) and Ibn Al-Jawzi in Al-‘Ilal Al-Mutanaahiyyah (930) from the route of Dujayn ibn Thaabit from Aslam, the freed slave of ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, on the authority of ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, may Allaah be pleased with him, as a Marfoo‘  Hadeeth.

It was also reported from the route of Dujayn ibn Thaabit by Ibn Mardawayh in his Amaaleeh (44), Al-Asbahani in At-Targheeb (1076) and Ibn Al-Jawzi in Al-‘Ilal Al-Mutanaahiyyah (930).

Its Isnaad is weak because it has Abu Al-Ghusn Dujayn ibn Thaabit. Ibn Ma‘een said: "I have nothing to say about his Hadeeth." Ad-Daarqutuni said: "His Hadeeth is not strong." An-Nasaa'i said: "He is not reliable." Ibn Hibaan said: "He narrated only few Hadeeths and his narrations are Munkar  in spite of their few numbers. He used to change narrations and had nothing to do with reporting Hadeeths. (1)"

Accordingly, the Hadeeth is weak because of the above-stated opinions of the scholars of Hadeeth. Moreover, Ibn Al-Jawzi and other scholars of Hadeeth deemed it weak.

Refer to Al-‘Ilal Al-Mutanaahiyyah (3/565), Al-Jaami‘ Al-Kabeer (1787), Al-Mataalib Al-‘Aaliyah (3/481), Asna Al-Mataalib (1/40), Tamyeez At-Tayeeb (13), Ad-Dorar Al-Muntathirah (1/70), Al-Maqaasid Al-Hasanah (58), As-Silsilah Adh-Dha‘eefah (1433) and Dha‘eef Al-Jaami‘ (460).

It as a witness for it from the Hadeeth narrated by Abu Hurairah, may Allaah be pleased with him, that was reported by At-Tabaraani in Al-Kabeer (1299), in Al-Awsat (5228), and Al-Bazzaar as in Kashf Al-Astaar (1079). Its Isnaad is also weak because it has Sulaymaan ibn Daawood Al-Yamaani. Al-Haythami said in Al-Majma‘ (3/268): "It was reported by At-Tabaraani in Al-Awsat and its Isnaad has Sulaymaan ibn Daawood Al-Yamaani who is weak."
