13- It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When the night of ‘nisf Sha‘baan’ (mid-Sha‘baan) comes, spend its night in prayer and observe a fast on that day. For Allah descends at sunset on that night to the lowest heaven and says: 'Is there no one who will ask Me for forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Is there no one who will ask Me for provision, that I may provide for him? Is there no one who is afflicted by trouble, that I may relieve him?’ And so on, until dawn comes.'"

The Verification of the Hadeeth: It has a very weak Isnaad (i.e. chain of transmission).

It was reported by Ibn Majaah in As-Sunnah, chapter of the Hadeeths reported about the night of the middle of Sha‘baan (1388) from the route of Ibn Abi Sabrah from Ibraaheem ibn Muhammad from Mu‘aawiyyah ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Ja‘far from his father from ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib, may Allaah be pleased with him, as a Marfoo‘  Hadeeth.

It was also reported from the route of Ibn Abi Sabrah by Al-Bayhaqi in Shu‘ab Al-Emaan (3664), Fadhaa'il Al-Awqaat (24), Al-Faakihi fi Akhbaar Makkah (1773), and Al-Mezi in Tahtheeb Al-Kamaal (33/107).

Its Isnaad is very weak because it has Ibn Abi Sabrah and his name is Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Sabrah Al-‘Amri Al-Maddeeni about whom Imam Ahmad, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: "He fabricates Hadeeth." Ibn Ma‘een said: "He is weak and I have nothing to say about his Hadeeth." An-Nasaa'i said: "His Hadeeth is Matrook  and it is deemed weak also by Al-Maddeeni, Al-Bukhaari, Al-Jawzjaani and other group of Hadeeth scholars. (1).

Al-Busayri said in Az-Zawaa'id (1/446): "This Isnaad has Ibn Abi Sabrah and his name is Abu Bakr ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Sabrah. Imam Ahmad and Ibn Ma‘een said, 'He fabricates Hadeeth.'"
