(16) It was narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When a slave of Allah suffers from illness, it is said to the angel who is on one's left: Raise your pen (i.e. stop recording evil deeds) and it is said to the angel who is on one's right: "Write down for him the best deeds he was doing (when he was healthy) for I know him best and I have chained him (i.e. stopped him from doing so due to illness)."

The Verification of the Hadeeth: Its Isnaad (i.e. chain of transmission) is weak.

It was reported by Ibn ‘Asaakir from Makhool as a Mursal (1) Hadeeth as in Al-Jaami‘ Al-Kabeer (2841), Kanz Al-‘Umaal (6685) (2) and it is weak for being Mursal. Refer to As-Silsilah Adh-Dha‘eefah (2711) and Dha‘eef Al-Jaami‘ (703).

(2) I did not find it in the printed version or in the abridged one.
