Moreover, Imam Al-Bukhaari, may Allah have mercy upon him, reported in his Saheeh that ‘Aa‘ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said: “The day of Bu‘ath (i.e. Day of fighting between the two tribes of the Ansaar, the Aus and Khazraj) was brought about by Allah for the good of His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, so that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, reached (Medina), the tribes of Medina had already divided and their chiefs had been killed and wounded. So Allah had brought about the battle for the good of His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, in order that they (i.e. the Ansaar) might embrace Islam.”
This is in general and according to the apparent indications. As for what is paved the way for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in himself, it is the seclusion and dedication for worship that is one of the most important characteristics of great men. After this, he became filled with what he, peace and blessings be upon him, dedicated himself for. It was narrated that ‘Aa‘ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said: “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hiraa’ where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously for many days before his desire to see his family. He used to take with him the journey food for the stay and then come back to (his wife) Khadeejah to take his food likewise again till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hiraa’.”
Amongst the matters that assured the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, before sending down the Divine Inspiration on him was the good dreams which came true like bright daylight.
In spite of the human nature of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the declaration of the Noble Quran with this, he mentioned many miracles and signs that prove the greatness of his status and his noble value. In this regard, it was narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said that a stone used to greet him before his Prophethood. How a great and a truthful leader is this! Makkah never knew a trustworthy person like him, peace and blessings be upon him. When Allah, The Almighty, made him manifest with the truth that was with him, it seems that he was not so apparent for them.
You have called him the most trustworthy person (for your trusts) during his tender age, and the trustworthy can never be accused for his speech!
I think this introduction is sufficient and thus I will go into the main topic which is: loving the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Love is the most sublime form of relationships and it may be the noblest of them. What makes me write regarding this topic is the statement of the honorable Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him: “You are with the one you love.”
Is there any happiness close to such happiness of love? Is there any success at the end equal to such love? Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “The only form of love that benefit one is to love for Allah, The Almighty, those whom Allah, The Almighty, loves of His creation such as the Prophets and the righteous. That is because loving them brings one nearer to Allah, The Almighty, and enables one to get His love and those are really who deserve the love of Allah, The Almighty.”
If one’s heart becomes attached to Allah, The Almighty, then one will love all what draws closer to Allah, The Almighty, and do great deal of it. It will remain having stronger love for Allah, The Almighty, and thus there is no love that can be equal to this love. Rather, he loves for the love of Allah, The Almighty, and for His sake.
Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “If you loved someone for the sake of Allah, then Allah, The Almighty, will be the beloved for Himself. Whenever you envisaged Him in your heart, you will envisage the beloved of truth and thus you will love him and your love to Allah, The Almighty, will increase. The same thing applies to the idea that whenever one remembers the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the Prophets and Messengers, may Allah exalt their mention, who came before him, their righteous companions and envisages them in his heart, this surely attracts your heart to love Allah, The Almighty, Who bestowed such graces upon them and with them if you loves them for the sake of Allah, The Almighty. That is because the thing that is loved for the sake of Allah, The Almighty, attracts to loving Allah, The Almighty. Also, if one loves someone else for the sake of Allah, then Allah will be his beloved for he likes to be attracted to Allah. Actually, both the one who loves for the sake of Allah and the beloved for the sake of Allah, The Almighty, attracts in turn to Allah, The Almighty.”
What made me write such words is the negligence of the closest people to the biography and tradition of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, while adorning themselves, unfortunately, with the way of the symbols of thought and literature in all of their talks. This is really great defect and flaw in knowledge and education; otherwise, it is as Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {…"Would you exchange what is better for what is less?...} [Quran 2: 61]
