Shunning, Backbiting and Mocking the Adherents of Sunnah:

Negligence practiced towards the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also includes the negligence of the hearts and actions towards those who served the Sunnah. This is represented in shunning the adherents of Sunnah, backbiting them, mocking them, belittling them, criticizing them and denouncing them for their inward and outward adherence to the traditions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.

There is no flaw in them other than their swords get blunt due to engaging in fighting many enemies.

Whenever we think of the conditions of Ghurbah and strangers you will find them few in this present time and others. Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, have previously spoke about their conditions saying:

Is there any other bitter feelings than our estrangement in which the enemies became have authority over us,

However, we are the captives of the enemies, could we return to our home and be safe.

Regarding the description of the adherents of Sunnah, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “A group of my Ummah (i.e. Muslim Community) will continue to prevail, following the truth. They will not be harmed by those who humiliate them until the decree of Allah comes to pass when they are like that.”

The talebearers blamed me for the love her, such blame actually is honor for me.

Here is one of our righteous predecessors Al-Junayd ibn Muhammad, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “All paths to Allah, The Almighty, are block for all people except for those who followed the footsteps of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, adheres to his Sunnah and cling firmly to his way. By doing this all the paths of goodness are opened before them as Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.} [Quran 33: 21]”

As for the one who does not adhere nor act upon Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, has nothing to do except vain speech and criticism.

Do not defame them for you may be blamed for having no father or do the great deeds that they have done.

Actually, the one who belittles them (i.e. the adherents of Sunnah) does not harm except himself.

Like the one who buts a rock to weaken it, he could not cause harm to it and rather he is one who is harmed.

This also may be a way of disseminating Sunnah among people.

A poet once said:

If Allah wants to disseminate a forgotten virtue, He will assign for it a tongue of envier.
