Episode 21: Things that motivate us to Love and Venerate the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him
Details
Hits: 1966
A Muslim individual is motivated to do so due to several things. Amongst them are:
1- Being in agreement with what Allah, The Almighty, wants regarding loving and exalting His Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Allah, The Almighty, swore with the life of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying (what means): {By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.} [Quran 15: 72]
He, The Exalted, also praised him saying (what means):
• {And indeed, you are of a great moral character.} [Quran 68: 4]
• {And raised high for you your repute.} [Quran 94: 4]
There is no human being is remembered or praised as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is remembered and praised and even his Lord, The Exalted, has taken him as His friend.
The scholar, Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: "Every love and exaltation extended to a human is permissible only if it is subservient to the love of Allah, The Almighty, and His aggrandizement. The love and exaltation of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, are only due to the perfect love of the One Who sent him and aggrandized him. His Ummah (i.e. Muslim community) loves him, because Allah loves him, and they exalt and revere him, because Allah exalts him, therefore, his love is a requirement of the love of Allah. The same thing applies to loving of the people of knowledge and sound faith and the loving and veneration of the companions, may Allaah be pleased with them, is subservient to the love of Allah, The Almighty, and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him."
Therefore, loving and glorifying the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is one of the conditions of one's belief. Rather, it is as Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: "Praising, commendation, exalting and venerating the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is like establishing the whole religion while neglecting this is like neglecting the whole religion."
2- Because of the matters that Allah, The Almighty, distinguished him with, such as honor of linage, noble descent, purity of his early life and youth and the perfection of characteristics, morals and actions.
3- The intense love, pity and mercy of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, towards his Ummah. In this regard, Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful.} [Quran 9: 128]
How much he, peace and blessings be upon him, asked Allah, The Almighty, to bring goodness to his Ummah!
How much suffering and harm of the polytheists with words and actions he, peace and blessings be upon him, experienced in disseminating Dawah (i.e. conveying message of Islam) until Allah, The Almighty, perfected religion and grace with him!
