Episode 4: Marriage is protection for honor
2- Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saw a woman, and so he came to his wife, Zaynab, as she was tanning a leather(1) and had sexual intercourse with her. He then went to his Companions and told them: The woman advances and retires in the shape of a devil, so when one of you sees a woman, he should come to his wife, for that will repel what he feels in his heart(2).
The Hadith is an explanation to the virtue of marriage and how it protects honors and protects oneself against adultery, immorality, and sins. The Hadith also instructs people to go to their wives once they admire unlawful women because that, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: repels what a person feels in his heart(3).
The Prophet (peace be upon him) exhorted youth to marry if they can afford the expenses of marriage and have the sexual desire for it.
He also urged them to marriage because it protects oneself from getting into adultery. As for those who cannot afford marriage, they should adhere to fasting for it is a shield against falling into sins.
He said: "O young men, those among you who can support a wife should marry, for it restrains eyes from casting (evil glances) and preserves one from immorality; but those who cannot afford it should devote themselves to fasting for it is a means of controlling sexual desire.”
