Episode 5: Marriage is the gate for happiness

Allah (Exalted be He) says: “And among His Signs is that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect.”⁽¹⁾

The Ayah is clear in stating that from the objectives of marriage are: obtain psychological self-peace and stability as a result of intimacy and compassion that are achieved between spouses. So, the meaning of (To repose) is to have company with them and the meaning of (affection) is love and compassion.⁽²⁾

`Abdullah ibn `Amr ibn Al `As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “The whole world is a provision, and the best object of benefit of the world is the pious woman.”⁽³⁾

Women are the cause of happiness to men, and men are the cause of happiness to women, but only if they are pious otherwise, they will be the cause of the misery for each other. Sa`d ibn Abu Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “There are four causes for happiness: A righteous woman, a spacious home, a good neighbor, and a comfortable mount. However, there are four causes for misery: A bad neighbor, a bad woman (wife), a bad mount, and a small house.”⁽⁴⁾

It is no secret the pleasure of each spouse with marriage, and the continuation of this happiness is done by the continuation of being righteous, however, the marital life can turn upside down if one of them showed bad manners.
