Episode 12: The woman in the social life of Prophet Mohammed peace and blessing be upon him 2/7

And the woman is the wife, for whom the Messenger of Allah confirmed her rights no less than those of the man, such as the necessity of her approval in marriage, her right to inheritance and wealth, that she has the right to run her financial matters, her right to maintenance money from her husband. He should deal with her kindly and take her opinion in issues she has expertise in, as well as respecting her femininity, to safeguard her dignity and honor, amongst her other rights.

Abdullah ibn Umar ibn Al-‘Aas, may Allah be pleased with them, said: “The messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Oh Abdullah! Is it true what I've heard about you fasting the day and praying all night?" He said, "Yes, Oh Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Do not do this anymore; fast and break you fast, pray and sleep, for your body has a right upon you, your eyes and your wife, too”.

The woman is the daughter, who is the joy of the eye of the Prophet (peace be and blessings upon him). The extent of his love and kindness towards his daughters is well-known. That also goes for the daughters of his companions. He even gave glad-tidings of Paradise to whoever has three daughters, and is patient in giving them proper upbringing. Thus, he said: "None of you has three sisters or daughters and is benevolent towards them except that he shall enter Paradise."

He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "Whoever has three daughters and is merciful towards them and takes care of them, he earned paradise outright. It was said: O messenger of Allah, what if they were two? He replied: even if they were two."

He had great affection for his precious daughter Fatimah. She was the joy of his eyes (peace and blessings be upon him). This love materialized both in speech and actions. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I never saw anybody more resembling to the Messenger of Allah in manners, guidance and comportment than Fatimah, the daughter of the messenger of Allah. She resembled him even in the way he stood and sat down. Whenever she came to where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was, he would get up and kiss her, after which he would make her sit in his gathering. And when he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her, she would get up to kiss him and make him sit in her gathering. So when he became ill, Fatimah threw herself upon him and kissed him. She then lifted her head up while crying and embraced him (peace and blessings be upon him) again. Then, she threw herself at him and lifted her head up laughing this time. So I said: I used to believe that she is one of the most intelligent amongst women, but she is just a woman. After the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, I asked her about the reason she cried the first time she lifted her head and laughed the second time. She said, "It made me cry to know that he would die from his illness. He then informed me that I would be the first one of his family to join him so I laughed (out of happiness).

The woman in the consideration of the messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is the sister of man, who cares about her and supports her. Men shouldn't be favored over women like they used to do in pagan era, except for issues Allah caused advantages between them. It's for this reason that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, women are the sisters in kin of men."

In total agreement with the Almighty’s statement: "O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise (each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)." [Surah Al-Hujurat]
