Episode 7: Marriage is obedience to Allah (2/2)

A good wife helps her husband to obey Allah (Glory be to Him) and likewise a good husband helps his wife to obey Allah (Glory be to Him). Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Companions asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): “If we know which wealth is better to have it? Thereupon, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: (the best of it is to have a tongue that mentions Allah frequently, a heart that is full of contentment, and a believing woman who helps you in terms of faith)(1).  Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: (May Allah have mercy on a man who gets up at night to perform Salah, and awakens his wife; if she refuses, he should sprinkle water on her face. May Allah have mercy on a woman who gets up at night to perform Salah, and awakens her husband; if he refuses, she would sprinkle water on his face)(2).

When both spouses are combined, each one has completed half of his religion. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: (Whomever Allah guides to (choose) a pious wife has helped him to fulfill half of his religion and he may fear Allah in the second half).

O brothers and sisters, take the chance to win a religious husband and a religious wife, otherwise your hand may soil with dust (a metaphor for great loss).

Allah knows the best.
