It is important to point out, here, to what current modernization is suffering from in this respect, especially in countries that ring the ears of the world, by day and by night, about their advancement and civilization. Yet, sadly, they continue to live in a swamp of early pagans in their dealings with the elderly and old age persons; from neglecting them, to beating them and throwing them in old folks homes and care.
5- Consultation of the Prophet, peace be upon him, of the woman and consideration of her views. This consultation was made apparent in its noblest illustrations. When the peace treaty of Hudeibiya had been concluded, the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered his Companions to slaughter their sacrificial animals, then shave. But, none obliged. The Prophet (Peace be upon him) gave instructions in this regard three times, but to no avail. He told his wife Umm Salamah about the attitude of his Companions. She said to him: O Prophet of Allah, do you like that! Go out there and speak not a word to any of them until you slaughter your camel, and call upon your hairdresser and get your head shaven. So, he did. Seeing that, the people began to slaughter their animals and shave each other’s heads. They even almost killed one another because of their distress. Her opinion was in its right place, thus alleviating the anguish from the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the difficulties from the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them.
The rank the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave to women is realized from this event. He took their advice in such a difficult situation and important matter. This indicates that women ought to participate with their opinions in events, which concern Muslims and their interests.
The prophetic exemplary Conduct is filled with events, where the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) cares to show consideration about women's presence. Thus, in many instances, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would consider her equally with men, and consult her as he would consult men.
6- Just like men, women were given the responsibility that comes with knowledge as well as the duty to seek it. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would specify women through his admonitions and lessons, such as during the Eid sermon. He also did so during his answers to their questions.
