Women in the pre-Islamic era (2/2)

Women in the view of Indians and idol-worshippers

All one needs to do to understand the condition of women in India is look at their scriptures: that the faithful wife must serve her master (her husband) as if he was a god. And that she should not discuss with him anything about him that might displease him, even if he has no good in him.

They would refer to their husbands by saying my master or sometimes even say oh Lord and walk behind them. Women would not eat with their husbands, but rather eat their leftovers.

Women in the view of the Chinese

The condition of women in China was terrible. They viewed that the sole purpose behind the existence of women was to serve men. Other than that, she wasn't supposed to have anything, except food to overcome hunger and water in order to live. All other pleasures and rights were made for man including all decisions. One of the ladies from the higher class of China wrote a letter, wherein she describes what women's true status should be, so she says: "We women occupy the lowest rank of human race, and so it's a must for us to have only the lowliest jobs."
