Episode 5: Oppressive rulings and legislations against women (1/3)
Here are some of those rules:
Whomever Allah provides with a female child must either be
patient with humiliation and the further disgrace that may result later on, or
he buries her alive. Indeed Allah has made reference in His Holy book to this
ignorant practice and this horrible deed by His statement: “When news is brought
to one of them, of (the birth of) a female (child), his face darkens, and he is
filled with inward grief! With shame does he hide himself from his people,
because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it on (sufferance and)
contempt, or bury it in the dust? Ah! What an evil (choice) they decide on?”
This was one of the harshest laws and filthiest of
constitutions that the Arabs had practiced for many years. It is a rule that
takes away a human's right to live without any crime or sin. Allah says: "And
when the female infant, buried alive, is questioned: for what crime she was
killed?" (Surah At-Takwir)
This extreme hatred towards women is what pushed the
polytheists to attribute daughters to Allah, about which the Lord of the
Universe said: "And they attribute to Allah that which they despise" i.e.
daughters.
