Consequences of violating the rule of [Sincere intentions in inviting to Allah]:

Praise be to Allah and may the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon His Messenger Muhammad, his family members, his companions and his lovers.

Thereafter, in this episode we will mention the consequences of violating the rule of sincerity.

There is no doubt that any deviation from this precious and great principle leads to some negative impacts on the preacher and the mission itself, I will outline some of them in the following lines:

1 - Absence of sincerity –beside the above-mentioned negatives- leads the preacher to be refused and rejected by the people. Eventually, the mission dwindles and declines also it casts on the hearts shade of bad intentions and darkness of worldly lusts throwing them into the trap of Satan and his plots.

2 – Moreover, lack of sincerity and divided intentions open the door for the followers of the devil and enemies of Da`wah to slander the preaching itself. In addition to that, the preacher who veers his purpose and turns it to the right and left is labeled by those enemies.

3 - The violation of this rule gives rise to a group of people who creep into the true preachers whose words are many and practice is little, whose numbers decrease when there is some fear and increase when there is something fascinating. They make the call a bridge to their worldly goals or a tool to their ambitions, pretending piety. Such preachers use their sweet words as their means simulating fake enthusiasm and soft behavior, while their inward is ruined and their hearts are empty. And that is the worst of what the divine missions always have been suffered from. As the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon him) has warned of when he said: “There will appear in the last days (of the world) people who seek the worldly goals with religion. In front of the people they wear clothes made of wool to give the impression of their humility, their speeches are sweeter than the sugar but their hearts are the hearts of wolves (very fond of wealth and position).” Allah says: “Are you fooled by Me (the mercy and opportunities I give) or that you dare towards Me? By My self, I swear, I will send down disasters from among their own that turn decent people into confusing.” (1)

4 – Moreover, violation of this rule leads to the partisanship, disharmony and exchanging of recriminations, also violation of this rule divides the preachers into groups and parties each claiming to be absolutely right and others to be totally wrong, furthermore, it causes them to slander and defame others that results into the failure of Da`wah itself and destroys its objectives completely.

Finally: This principle is a serious matter not a joke that needs to address the soul frankly and clearly -as was stated in the words of Al Ghazali-. Additionally, it needs frequent assessment from time to time as Sufyan Ath-Thawry said: “I never dealt with something tougher than my intention.”

Therefore, this rule is the first base and the starting point in the field of Da`wah, that is why a preacher should decontaminate and purify his intention before any thing else. May Allah (Glory be to Him) ease it for the preachers.

Furthermore, by the will of Allah we will start in the following episode elucidating the second rule entitled: the clear vision and definite goal in calling to Allah.

May the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family members and his all companions.

(1) Reported by At-Tirmidhy: (4/604 Hadith No. 2404), Book of Asceticism, Chapter on (Who exploits the religion for worldly interests). However, its chain of transmission contains Yahya ibn `Abdullah ibn Muhib who was criticized by Sho`abah. On the other hand, At-Tirmidhy has mentioned another Hadith narrated on the authority of Ibn `Umar that supports this Hadith. (2405), also At-Tirmidhy said: “This is a good Hadith but strange.”
