10 – The Statement that a Jew passed by the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, while talking to his companions, the Quraish said: "O Jew! This one is claiming to be a prophet. He said: I will ask Him for something that no one knows except a prophet; he said: O Mohammed! From what is man created? The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: «O Jew! He is created from both: the sperm of the man and the seed of the woman». The Jew said: Thus used to say those who were before you (*).
This is the Statement of Ibn Mas’ood - referred to at the beginning of the investigation – and has two lines concerning it (the Statement):
The first: Ata’ bin As-Saa’ib, according to Qasim bin Abdurrahman, according to his father, according to Abdullah bin Mas’ood.
Narrated by Ahmad (1), Al-Bazzar (2), An-Nisa’ee – in “Al-Kubra”- (3) all of which by way of Yahya bin Al-Muhallab Abu Kudeinah. At-Tabaraani (4) by way of Hamza bin Habib Al-Zayat. Both according to Ata’ bin As-Saa’ib, by him.
In it there is a phrase, which those who inferred to it did not mention, namely: «As for the sperm of the man, it is a thick seed, from which come the bone and the nerve, while the seed of the woman, it is a thin seed, from which come the flesh and the blood».
And in its chain of narration is Ata’ bin As-Saa’ib (truthful that got mixed up) (5).
Abu Kudeinah was not mentioned, nor was Hamza Al-Zayat, among those who narrated according to him before the mix up (6).
But the statement of some companions testifies for him – they were not named – which is the statement following this one.
The second: What has been narrated by Al-Bazzar from another side according to Ibn Mas’ood – with other than this wording, and without such an addition - he said: "Ahmad bin Ishaq Al-Ahwazi related to us, Aamir bin Mudrak related to us, ‘Utbah bin Yaqdhan related to us, according to Hammad, according to Ibrahim, according to his maternal uncles - he means ‘Alqamah and Al-Aswad – according to Abdullah. He said: "A company of Jews came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and said: O Mohammed! If you are a prophet as you say, tell us where does the likeness come from? The man resembles his paternal uncles one time and his maternal uncles another time? He said: «The man's fluid is white and thick, and the fluid of the woman is thin and yellow, whichever of them prevails; it dominates the resemblance» (7).
Its chain of narrators is weak. ‘Utbah bin Yaqdhan (weak) (8), and Aamir bin Mudrak (is soft spoken) (9), but strengthens by his corroborators.
And Ibrahim is Ibn Yazeed An-Nukha'ee.
And Hammad is Ibn Abu Suleiman bin Muslim, (truthful, has illusions) (10).
11 – As to the statement of some of the companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, it has been narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in “Ad-Dalaa’il” by way of Ahmad bin Abdul-Jabbar. Yunus bin Bakir related to us, according to Ibn Ishaaq, he said: "Al-Mukhtar bin Abu Al-Mukhtar related to me, according to Abu Dhabian, he said: our companions related to us: that while they were in the company of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, on a trip, they were intercepted by a Jew (11)...And he mentioned a similar Hadith to that of Ibn Mas’ood from its first source.
However, he said: «as to the seed of the women, it is red and thin...».
In its chain of narrators is Al-Mukhtar bin Abu Al-Mukhtar, mentioned by Bukhari (12) and Ibn Abi Hatim (13).
They did not mention in it either invalidation or amendment, and Ibn Hibbaan mentioned it in his confidents (14).
They did not mention a narrator apart from Ibn Ishaaq; he is of indefinite origins.
Al-Mazzi mentioned his surname and the name of his father, he said: "Abu Othman, Al-Mukhtar bin Yazid" (15).
And Ibn Ishaaq is in the chain of forged transmitters, but he is honest by listening.
And Ahmed bin Abdul-Jabbar, Al- Haafidh said in his regard (weak, and his listening for the biography is correct (16).
