Episode 40: The Genetic Impact of Mother and Preference of Choosing (Good Mate) for Semen (4B-4)
Moreover, Al Hafiz ibn Hajar attributed it to Ibn Al `Adi in his book At-Talkhis (1) and to Al Khatib in his book Idhah Al Multabas. I consulted both books but could not be able to spot. Al `Iraqi (2) attributed it to Ad-Darqutni in his book Al Afrad. All of them narrated it on the authority of Al Waqidi, from Yahya ibn Sa`id ibn Dinar, from Abu Wajzah Yazid ibn `Obaid, from `Ata’ ibn Yazid Al Laithi except Ar-Ramhurmuzi who narrated it on the authority of Muhammad ibn `Umar Al Makki. It seems that he is Al Waqidi, because Al Hafiz ibn Hajar said after attributing it to him and to others: "These are all on the authority of Al Waqidi, from Yahya ibn Sa`id ibn Dinar."
In addition, Al Waqidi is Muhammad ibn `Umar ibn Al Waqid Al Aslami Al Madani Al Qadhi a resident of Baghdad. He was abandoned despite his wide knowledge. (3)
Al Muzzi included Yahya ibn Sa`id ibn Dinar among the narrators of Abu Wajzah (4), but I could not find his biography. Although the narrator who was mentioned by Abu Hilal Al `Askari is Yahya ibn Sa`id ibn Hibban, an authentic narrator. (5) Nevertheless, I did not find him neither among the students of Abu Wajzah nor among the teachers of Al Waqidi as well as Al Hafiz ibn Hajar did not mention him in his above stated conclusion. And Allah knows best.
Al Hafiz ibn Hajar inferred in At-Talkhis to Ibn Tahir and Ibn Salah that they said: "This was counted among the singularities (Afrad) of Al Waqidi." Ad-Daraqutni said: "It could not be authenticated by any way."
As well as ibn Al Mulaqqin said in Al Badr Al Munir:"It was narrated by Al Waqidi on the authority of Abu Sa`id Al Khudri and this narration was counted among Al Waqidi’s singularities. Anyway, weakness of this narration is clear.” (6) End of quote.
Reasoning:
These Ahadith were quoted by a number of physicians and writers. For example, by Dr. Muhammad `Ali Al Barr who inferred in his book (The creation of man between medicine and the Qur'an)(7) to Hadith No.2/d, (Episode 24) and Hadith No.4, and Hadith No.5 (Episode 26), and Dr. Hamid Al Ghawabi in his book (Between medicine and Islam) to Hadith No. 1 (Episode 23) and Hadith No.2/c (Episode 24), Hadith No.3, (Episode 26) (8), and Dr. Hamid Ahmad Hamid in his book (Journey of Faith ...)(9) to Hadith No.2/a, and b, (Episode 24) and Hadith No.3 (Episode 26) and Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Suleiman in his book (The Qur’an and Medicine)(10) to Hadith No. 2/a, (Episode 24) and Dr. Ahmad Shawqi Al Fanjari in his research (Priority of Islam to medicine) to Hadith No.2/d, (Episode 24) (11), and Dr.`Abdullah `Abdur-Rahim Al `Ebadi in his book (The modern science an argument for man or an argument against him)(12) to Hadith No.2/a (Episode 24),Hadith No.3 and Hadith No. 4 (Episode 26) and `Abdullah Naseh `Alwan, in his book (Raising children in Islam) to Hadith No. 2/a, b, d, e, (Episode 24) and Hadith No.3 and Hadith No. 5 (Episode 26) (13). All of them are of the opinion that these Ahadith agree with the discovery of genetic science -especially what is called “Mendel's Genetic Law”- that concludes that father and mother share in the formation of embryo equally as women’s egg includes 23 chromosomes and the sperm also bears the same number of chromosomes. These chromosomes carry genes that give to the fetus the natural and ethical qualities. Therefore, the Prophet (may the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon him) urged to choose a wife, because of their importance in the offspring and progeny.
