Reasoning:

Dr. Hamid Ahmad Hamid inferred to the Hadith in his book (Journey of faith in the human body) where he said: "The percentage of child’s birth with mental retardation increases as the age of the pregnant mother becomes older, while the incidence of this phenomenon in the mother of 25 years becomes 1 in 1500 whilst in mother of 35 years old it is more likely to occur 1 in 350, also this percentage will increase if the mother reaches 40 years to 1 in 30. The Messenger of guidance, the Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon him) was right when he said: “Marry the one who is loving and fertile, for I will be proud of your great number before the nations on the Day of Resurrection.” And Dr. Hamid Ahmad Hamid mentioned this Hadith." Comment:

The reason for marring the loving and fertile was provided clearly in the Hadith itself, the intention is to increase the numbers of Muslims because it is a source of pride for the Prophet (may  the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon him) before the nations on the Day of Resurrection. There is an agreed upon Hadith that was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah who said that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There was no prophet among the prophets but was given miracles through which people had faith, but what I was given was the Divine Revelation which Allah revealed to me. So I hope that my followers will be more than those of any other prophet on the Day of Resurrection.” (2) The woman who is fertile was intended, whether young or elderly – but a young has preference – as the Prophet (may the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon him) has urged to marry virgins; as one of their benefit is the multiplicity of progeny because the fertility of young woman lasts longer than the elderly.

Moreover, if a person gets married to a young woman who after years will become elderly, would they be told? Stop having more children!
