Indeed, there are blessed days and times during which invocations are desirable and the answer is more rapid, and Allah has the utmost wisdom. Allah says: "And your Lord creates whatsoever He wills and chooses." [Surat Al Qasas: 68].
Of the perfection of His wisdom and Ability and the perfection of His Knowledge and Encompassment, He chooses from His Servants whomever He wants and of times and places whatever He wants. He gives these people, times, and places a special merit more than others out of His Bounty and Favor, and that is the greatest sign of His lordship and the greatest witness to His Oneness and Singularity with the attributes of His Perfection. We should know that all affairs are to Allah in the past and in the future, and He judges between His Creatures with whatever He wills. "So all praise and thanks are Allâh's, the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the earth, and the Lord of the `Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists). * And His (Alone) is the Majesty in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise." [Surat Al Jathiyah: 36 - 37].
Of the times which Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted) gave merit to others by His Favor is the month of Ramadan where He gave it preference to other months, moreover its last ten days are better than all nights, and Laylatul-Qadr is given more merit and preference to others as it is better than one thousand months. Furthermore, Allah (Glory be to Him) raised its status and rank, and sent down during which His Revelation and Wise Speech as a guidance for the pious, distinction for the believers, and light, guidance, and mercy.
Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "We sent it (this Qur'ân) down on a blessed night [(i.e. the night of Al-Qadr, Sûrah No. 97) in the month of Ramadân - the 9th month of the Islâmic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]. * Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments. * As a Command (or this Qur'an or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers), * (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. * The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you (but) have a faith with certainty. * Lâ ilaha illâ Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death - your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." [Surat of Ad-Dukhan: 3 - 8]. Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "Verily, We have sent it (this Qur'ân) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree). * And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is? * The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allâh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months). * Therein descend the angels and the Rûh [Jibrîl (Gabriel)] by Allâh's Permission with all Decrees, * (All that night), there is Peace (and Goodness from Allâh to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn." [Surat Al Qadr].
How a great night it is! And how many blessings are being sent down during that night; one night is better than one thousand nights i.e., more than eighty three years which is the lifetime of an old person if he spends his lifetime in obedience to Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted). So, only one night is better than the entire lifetime; this is the reward of those who seek it and gain its blessings.
Mujahid (may Allah bestow mercy on his soul) said: Laylat-ul-Qadr (the Night of Decree) is better than a thousand months (of worship) without containing any Laylat-ul-Qadr during these months. Likewise Qatadah, Ash-Shafi`y, and others said.
During that blessed night, angels come down in numbers because of its blessings, as angels come down with blessings. It is secure and safe until the dawn which means it does not contain any evil and during that night every matter is ordained by the decree of the All-Wise who decrees a yearly report different from the Preserved Tablet in which all matters are written since the beginning of creation until the establishment of the Hour, and it was written 50.000 years before the creation of the heavens and the earth as was authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him).
A person should seek that night to win its reward, obtain its goodness, and to get its benefits and blessings, whereas the deprived person is the one who is deprived of that reward and those who miss the seasons of blessings and the days of goodness while they continue their bad actions and evil deeds. So, what a loser that person is! And how sorrow and regret he shall get! As for the one who is not keen to win that night, when shall he get the chance? And whoever does not repent to Allah during that time when shall he repent and those who do not do righteous deeds when they shall work?!
Eagerness for seeking that night and exerting efforts in invocation are the characteristics of pious and good people, but rather they persist on seeking pardon and forgiveness during that night because it is the night during which the yearly actions of a person are written. So, people should exert efforts to win that night and spend the rest of the year in good and righteous deeds and from Allah they should ask for help and success.
