Then he said after mentioning these great invocations: "I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything You are to seize by the forelock (You have perfect control over it)," which is an introduction for asking for a person's needs from his Lord (Glory be to Him). As for his saying: "I seek refuge with You," it means: I seek Your Protection "from the evil of everything You are to seize by the forelock (You have perfect control over it)," It includes everything that crawls or walks on two legs or four legs. Allah (may He be Exalted) says: "Allâh has created every moving (living) creature from water. Of them there are some that creep on their bellies, and some that walk on two legs, and some that walk on four. Allâh creates what He wills. Verily, Allâh is Able to do all things." [Surat An-Nur: 45].
As for his saying: "You are to seize by the forelock (You have perfect control over it)," it contains a reference that all creatures subject to His Power and Dominance because He (Glory be to Him) seizes them by the forelock, have a perfect control over them, and behaves as He wants and in the way He likes.
Allah (may He be Exalted) said about Hud (Peace be upon him): "I put my trust in Allâh, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has the grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on a Straight Path (the truth)." [Surat Hud: 56].
Then the Messenger invoked Allah (Glory be to Him) with some of His Beautiful Names and Attributes: "O Allah, You are the First, there is naught before You. and You are the Last and there is naught after You, and You are Evident and there is nothing above You, and You are Innermost and there is nothing beyond You."
This is a proof that Allah is the First and nothing was before Him, His eternity (Glory be to Him) after the end of everything, His Highness over His Creation, His Rising over His Throne, and to prove that He is the Evident and nothing is above Him and His Nearness to His Creation and encompassment, and He is (may He be Glorified and Exalted) Innermost and there is nothing beyond You. These four names indicate the encompassment of the Lord (Glory be to Him) which are of two kinds: time and place. As for the time encompassment, it was referred to by His Two Names: the First and the Last, and the place encompassment was referred to by His Two Names: the Evident and the Innermost This is the explanation of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and there is no explanation more perfect than his.
As for his saying: "Remove the burden of debt from us and make us rich after poverty." it is asking Allah to fulfill the needs and wants after these invocations. As for his saying: "Remove the burden of debt from us," it means: Perform the rights of Allah as well as the rights of the people of all kinds. This invocation contains turning away might and strength of a man and admitting that there is not might nor strength save in Allah the Ever-Magnificent.
As for his saying: "and make us rich after poverty," it is well known that debt and poverty are great concern that may worry a person and prevent him from sleep, but when a person resorts to Allah and asks His Help, invoking Him with these great invocations, his self shall feel comfort and tranquility and his heart will feel ease because he left his matter to the One in whose Hands are all matters and keys of heavens and the earth. Moreover, a person resorts to the One who wants something shall say to it be and it is done; so how the heart of such a person does not feel tranquility after he had put his truth in Allah!
