Episode 9: We have reached the evening (1/2)

    Among the invocations of the two ends of the day:
    Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih, according to Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: “During evening time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: ‘We have reached the evening and at this very time unto Allah belongs all sovereignty, and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent. My Lord, I ask for the good of this night and the good of what follows it, and I take refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of what follows it. My Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I take refuge in You from torment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.’ Likewise, one says in the morning: ‘We have reached the morning and at this very time unto Allah all sovereignty belongs.’ Thus, the meaning of: "We have reached the evening and at this very time unto Allah belongs all sovereignty": We are aware and confirm that the dominion belongs to Allah. All praise belongs to Him not to any other. So we seek refuge in him alone. We sought assistance with Him and specified worship as belonging to Him alone. He is praiseworthy and gratitude belongs to Him. This is why the Muslim, who does invocation, testifies to his faith and his belief in monotheism by saying: "None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone without partner"

    In reality, none is worshipped upon truth except Allah. It's also important to note that the word of monotheism: “there is no deity except Allah” consists of two pillars and the declaration of monotheism is not achieved except by them. That is confirmation and negation. "There is no deity" is a rejection of all those worshipped and "except Allah" confirmation that worship is to be to Allah the Glorious one.

    And, because of the importance of this issue and its magnificence, he confirmed it with the statement: "alone, without partner". It confirms the negation, and this confirmation when repeated, emphasizes the importance of the declaration of monotheism and its high status.
