Opinion of Iblees (may Allaah curse him) regarding Adam, may Allah exalt his mention:
It was narrated on the authority of Anas ibn Maalik, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When Allah, The Almighty, fashioned Adam in Paradise, He, The Exalted, left him as He liked him to leave. Then Iblees roamed round him to see what actually that was and when he found him hollow from within, he recognized that he had been created with a disposition that he would not have control over himself." (1).
The phrase "he would not have control over himself" means that he is not able to restrain himself from desires. It was also said that it means that he is not able to repel the insinuating whispers of the devil. A third group said it means that he is not able to control himself during the time of anger. This refers and applies to all children of Adam.
Adam: Between (being) Soul and Body:
It was narrated that Al-‘Irbaadh ibn Saariyah, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: 'I was written [in Umm Al-Kitaab] in Allah's presence as the Seal of the Prophets, even when Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, was still in the form of mud on the ground, and I will tell you the interpretation of that. I am the answer to the prayer of the father of Ibraaheem (Abraham), may Allah exalt his mention, the glad tidings of ‘Eesa, may Allah exalt his mention, concerning me to his people, and the dream that my mother saw that she saw a light which illuminated the palaces of Syria." (2).
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, when was the Prophethood established for you?' He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "While Adam was between (being) soul and body.” (3).
The phrase "While Adam was between (being) soul and body" means the Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, was established when Adam was on the ground, a shape without soul i.e. before soul is breathed in him.
When did Allah, The Almighty, Created Adam, may Allah exalt his mention?
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took hold of my hand and said, "Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, created the earth on Saturday, the mountains on Sunday, the trees on Monday, the things entailing labour on Tuesday, light on Wednesday. He, The Exalted, spread out animals of all kinds on Thursday, and created Adam in the afternoon on Friday, and it was the last hour of Friday between the afternoon and the night." (4).
It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On it Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, was created, on it he was admitted to Paradise and on it he was expelled therefrom.”
In a variant narration reported by Abu Daawood, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On it Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, was created, on it he was sent down (to earth), on it his repentance was accepted, on it he died and on it the Hour will begin. There is no living being but it is in a state of apprehension on Friday from dawn until sunrise fearing the onset of the Hour, except jinn and mankind. On it there is an hour when no Muslim happens to pray and ask Allaah for what he needs, but He will give it to him." (5).
