Creation of Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, and Emission of his Offspring:

It was narrated that Abu Ad-Dardaa', may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When Allah, The Almighty, created Adam and struck his right shoulder, there emitted from it white offspring as if they were like milk. He, The Exalted, struck his left shoulder and there emitted from it the black offspring as if they were charcoal. He, The Exalted, then said (to those who had been emitted) from the right (shoulder): 'For Paradise and I do not mind. Then He, The Exalted, said to those (who had been emitted) from his left shoulder: 'They are for Hellfire and I do not mind." (1).

It was also narrated on the authority of ‘Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Qataadah As-Sulami, may Allaah be pleased with him, who was one of the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah, The Almighty, created Adam and then created other people from his (Adam's) back, and said: 'These into paradise and I do not care, and these into Hellfire and I do not care." One asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, What should we do? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Fulfill the acts of worship along with having certain belief that everything that happens in this universe happens by the will and decree of Allaah." (2).

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah ibn Ad-Daylami said: "I entered upon ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, may Allaah be pleased with them, and said some people claim that you say: "Evil one is he who was evil in the womb of his mother." Upon this he said: "I do not allow anyone to tell lies about me." I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Allah, The Almighty, created His creation in darkness, then He, The Exalted, sent His Light upon them. Whoever was touched by His Light on that day will be guided and whoever was missed will be led astray (3).  Hence I say: "The pens have dried in accordance with the knowledge of Allah, may He be glorified.''

It was also reported that Hishaam ibn Hakeem, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: O Messenger of Allah, should we do deeds or the Decree of Allah was done? Upon this the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Verily Allah, The Almighty, brought forth the progeny of Adam from his back (loins) and then made them testify to themselves ( [saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes ). Then, He, The Exalted, poured them out in his two Hands and said: "These are (destined to be) in Paradise and these are in Hellfire. Hence, the people destined for Paradise are fitted for the work of the people of Paradise and the people destined for Hellfire are fitted for the work of the people of Hellfire." (4).

Allah, The Almighty, Took the Covenant from the Loins of Adam, may Allah exalt his mention:

It was narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbaas, may Allaah be pleased with them, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Surely, Allah, The Almighty, took the covenant from the loins of Adam at Nu‘man i.e. Arafah, bring forth from his loins every seed (offspring) He created and scattering them before Him. Then, in front of Him, He asked them: "[saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] - lest you should say on the day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware. Or [lest] you say, "It was only that our fathers associated [others in worship] with Allah before, and we were but descendants after them. Then would You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done?" [Quran 7: 172-173]

Allah, The Almighty, Showed Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, his Offspring when He was Created:

It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When Allah, The Almighty, created Adam, He wiped Adam's back and every person that He will create from him until the Day of Resurrection fell out from his back. Allah, The Almighty, placed a glimmering light between the eyes of each one of them. Allah, The Almighty, showed them to Adam and Adam asked, 'O Lord! Who are they?' Allah, The Almighty, said, 'These are your offspring.' Adam saw a man from among them whose light he liked. He asked, 'O Lord! Who is this man?' Allah, The Almighty, said, 'This is a man from the latter generations of your offspring. His name is Daawood.' Adam said, 'O Lord! How many years would he live?' Allah, The Almighty, said, 'Sixty years.' Adam said, 'O Lord! I have forfeited forty years from my life for him.' When Adam's life came to an end, the angel of death came to him (to take his soul). Adam said, 'I still have forty years from my life term, do n0t I' He said, 'Have you not given it to your son Daawood' So Adam denied that and his offspring followed suit (denying Allah's covenant), Adam forgot and his offspring forgot, Adam made a mistake and his offspring made mistakes." (5).

It was narrated on the authority of Anas ibn Maalik, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It will be said to a man from the people of the Fire on the Day of Resurrection, `If you owned all that is on the earth, would you pay it as ransom' He will reply, `Yes.' Allah will say, `I ordered you with what is less than that, when you were still in Adam's loins, that is, associate none with Me (in worship). You insisted that you associate with Me (in worship)." (6).
