It was narrated that Shaybaan, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "I heard Al-Hasan, may Allaah be pleased with him, saying (reporting from the Prophet, peace and blessing be upon him): 'A person belonging to the people of the past suffered from a boil, when it pained him, he drew out an arrow from the quiver and pierced it. And the bleeding did not stop till he died. Your Lord said: "I forbade his entrance into Paradise."  (1).

Amongst the lessons drawn from the above-mentioned Hadeeth:

1- An-Nawawi, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: "This Hadeeth points out the grave sin of committing killing oneself and severe punishment of such act in the Hereafter. (2).

2- Suicide is something prohibited and its punishment is severe and thus Muslim should not do such heinous act, even if he is afflicted by the severest and most serious calamity. In this regard, It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allaah, peace and blessing be upon him, said: “Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron, that piece of iron will be in his hand and he will be stabbing himself in the stomach with it in the Fire of Hell forever and ever. Whoever takes poison and kills himself, his poison will be in his hand and he will be sipping it in the Fire of Hell forever and ever. Whoever throws himself down from a mountain and kills himself will be in the Fire of Hell, throwing himself down therein forever and ever..” (3).
