It was narrated on the authority of Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The Lord, Blessed and Most High is He, has said: 'Whoever is too busy with the Quran to remember Me and ask Me, then I shall give him more than what I give to those who ask.' The superiority of the speech of Allah compared to all other speech is like the superiority of Allah over His creation.”

The Verification of the Hadeeth:

It was reported by At-Tirmithi in his Jaami‘, the Chapters of the virtues of the Noble Quran reported from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, chapter (26), No. (2926) and said: "This is a Hasan (good) and Ghareeb (1) Hadeeth. Ad-Daarmi (3359) and ‘Abdullaah ibn Ahmad reported it in As-Sunnah (1/149-150), At-Tabari in Ad-Du‘aa' (1851), Abu Na‘eem in Al-Hilyah (5/106), Abu Al-Fadhl Ar-Raazi in Fadhaa'il Al-Quran (26-27), Al-Bayhaqi in Al-Asmaa' (p. 307) and Al-I‘tiqaad (p. 101-102), Ash-Shu‘b (1860) and others.

Its Isnaad (i.e. chain of transmission) is weak because it has ‘Atiyyah ‘Al-Awfi who is weak and writes his Hadeeth as it was stated by Abu Haatim, Ibn Ma‘een and Ibn ‘Adyy. Also, it has Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan ibn Abi Yazeed Al-Hamadaani who is deemed weak by more than one of the scholars of Hadeeth. Ibn ‘Adyy said: "Besides he is weak, he writes his Hadeeth."

Moreover, it has a witness that supports it from the Hadeeth of ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, from the Hadeeth of Jaabir ibn ‘Abdullaah, from the Hadeeth of Huthayfah ibn Al-Yamaan, from the Hadeeth of Hakeem ibn Hizaam and from the Hadeeth of ‘Umar ibn Murah as a Mursal (2) Hadeeth.

As for the Hadeeth reported by ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, may Allaah be pleased with him, it was reported by Al-Bukhaari in the chapter of (creating the actions of the slaves, No. 544), in Al-Kabeer (1/2/115), At-Tabaraani in Ad-Du‘aa' (1850), Ibn Shaheen in At-Targheeb (153) Abu Na‘eem in Ma‘rifat As-Sahaabah (215), Al-Bayhaqi in As-Shu‘ab (567 and 3786), in Fadhaa'il Al-Awqaat (194) from the route of Safwaan ibn Abi As-Sahbaa' from Bakeer ibn ‘Ateeq from Saalim ibn ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar from his father from his grandfather, may Allaah be pleased with them, as a Marfoo‘ Hadeeth: "The Lord, Blessed and Most High is He, has said: 'Whoever is too busy with remembering Me to ask Me, then I shall give him more than what I give to those who ask.'

Safwaan ibn Abi As-Sahbaa' was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Ma‘een in the narration of Ad-Dawri. Ibn Khalfoon said: "I think he is truthful." Ibn Hibbaan and Ibn Shaheen in (Ath-Thiqaat). Ibn Abdel Barr said in At-Tamheed (6/46) and all other of its narrators are trustworthy.

As for the Hadeeth of Jaabir, may Allaah be pleased with him, it was reported by Al-Qadhaa‘i (584) and Al-Bayhaqi in (Ash-Shu‘b No. 568) and Al-Asbahaani in At-Targheeb (1364) from the route of Abi Sufyaan Sa‘eed ibn Yahya Al-Humayri from Adh-Dhahaak ibn Humrah from Abi Az-Zubayr from Jaabir as a Marfoo‘ Hadeeth:

Scholars have different opinions regarding Adh-Dhahaak ibn Humrah; however, most of the scholars deemed him weak.

As for the Hadeeth of Huthayfah, may Allaah be pleased with him, it was reported by Muhammad ibn Haroon in Al-Fawaa'id (41- Muntaqaah by Al-Mizzi) from Abi Muslim ‘Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Waaqid Al-Bughdaadi who reported from Sufyaan ib ‘Uyaynah from Mansoor from Rib‘i from Huthayfah, may Allaah be pleased with him, as a Marfoo‘ Hadeeth: "The Lord, Blessed and Most High is He, has said: 'Whoever is too busy with remembering Me to ask Me, then I shall give him before he asks me.'

It was also reported from the same route by Abu Na‘eem in Al-Hilyah (7/313) and said: "It is Ghareeb Hadeeth because Abu Muslim is the only one reported it from Ibn ‘Uayynah."

I said: Ibn Hibbaan mentioned Abu Muslim in his book Ath-Thiqaat. Ibn ‘Adyy said: He reported texts of Hadeeths that are not known through any other chain of transmission and contradict the narration of a trustworthy narrator."

As for the Hadeeth of Hakeem ibn Hizaam, may Allaah be pleased with him, it was reported by Ash-Shaykh in Tabaqaat Al-Asbahaanyeen (305) from Ahmad ibn Mahmood ibn Sabeeh Al-Asbahaani who reported from ‘Aamir ibn Aseed from Muhammad ibn As-Sabbaah Al-Bazaar from Abu Bakr ibn ‘Ayaash from Al-A‘mash from Maalik ibn Al-Haarith from ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Ismat from Hakeem ibn Hizaam, may Allaah be pleased with him, as a Marfoo‘ Hadeeth: "The Lord, Blessed and Most High is He, has said: 'If My slave is too busy with remembering Me to ask Me, then I shall give him more than what I give to those who ask.'

Abu Na‘eem reported it in Akhbaar Asbahaan (2/38) from Abees Ahmad Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ibraheem who reported from Ahmad ibn Mahmood ibn Sabeeh.

It was also reported by both Abu Ash-Shaykh and Abu Na‘eem in speaking about the biography of ‘Aamir ibn Usayd ibn Waadhih Al-Waadhihi and they did not mention regarding him any criticism.

As for the Hadeeth of ‘Amr ibn Murah, may Allaah be pleased with him, it was reported by Ibn Abi Shaybah (10/237) from Ibn Numayr from Moosa ibn Muslim from ‘Amr ibn Murah, may Allaah be pleased with him, as a Marfoo‘ Hadeeth: "The Lord, Blessed and Most High is He, has said: Whoever is too busy with remembering Me to ask Me, then I shall give him greater than what I give to those who ask.'  It is Mursal and its narrators are trustworthy.

In conclusion

This Hadeeth along with such witnesses is deemed Hasan li Ghayrih (i.e. by virtue of all its multiple routes of transmission). Allah Knows best.
