Explanation of the Previously Mentioned Hadeeths:
Such Hadeeths imply instructions of reciting the Noble Quran, abiding by its commandments, prohibitions, what it allows and what it does not, following it in all what it calls for and instructs, and acting upon it day and night, in secret and open. This is actually what indicated in the narration of An-Nawaas ibn Sam‘aan Al-Kulaabi reported by Imam Muslim in his Saheeh (805) saying: "The Quran will be brought on the Day of Resurrection along with its people who used to act upon it, preceded by Soorat al-Baqarah and Aal ‘Imraan. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, likened them to three things, which I did not forget afterwards. He (the Holy Prophet) likened them to two clouds, or two black canopies with light between them, or like two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading on behalf of their companions (i.e., those who used to read them)."
This Hadeeth indicates that whoever recites the Noble Quran and does not act upon it i.e. does not abide by what it allows and what it prohibits and does not believe in its sacredness, then he will not be included in its people and Quran will not be his intercessor on the Day of Resurrection. Rather, it will be an argument against him as it was stated in the Hadeeth of Maalik Al-Ash‘ari, may Allaah be pleased with him, in the Marfoo‘ (i.e. traceable) Hadeeth reported by Imam Muslim (223) in which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The Noble Quran is either a proof for a person or an argument against him."
This also what exactly stated in the Hadeeth reported by Jaabir, may Allaah be pleased with him, in which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever puts it in front of him (acts upon it), it will lead him to Paradise, and whoever puts it behind his back (neglects acting upon it), it will drive him to Hell." May Allah guard us against this!
Ad-Daarimi reported that Abu Moosa Al-Ash‘ari, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "This Quran can either be your blessed reward, remembrance and light, or it can become your unexpected burden on the day of reckoning. Thus, follow the Quran and do not let the Quran follow you! For whosoever follows the Quran, it will lead him to the blissful gardens of Paradise, and whosoever is followed by the Quran, it will chase him and force him until it shoves him into the abyss of Hellfire."
