Instructions Stated in the Hadeeth for the whole Islamic Nation:
What this Hadeeths aims to is that the reciter of the Noble Quran and knows well its rulings has a noble rank, great status, and is superior to others, even if they have more noble lineage and greater positions. Companion of the Quran is one of the most people who are close to Allah, The Almighty, does not have great position, wealth, lineage, or noble status in society, even he may have, according to the criteria of the worldly life, lower rank than others. However, according to the criteria of the Noble Quran he is a unique person and has a unique position.
As we may observe in this noble Hadeeth, the Noble Quran has raised him from the position of a salve to the position of authority. His knowledge of the Noble Quran qualified him to be a governor and judge among people, had the effective word and the heard opinion in the whole society.
Here is ‘Umar, may Allaah be pleased with him, knows well the real great virtue and position of the memorizer of the Noble Quran who knows its rulings. He, may Allaah be pleased with him, went on approving the choice of Naafi‘ and mentioning the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in this regard: ‘Indeed, by this Book, Allaah would exalt some people and degrade others.’”
Allah, The Almighty, honored this nation by sending down the Noble Quran to it and distinguished it with this away from other nations. Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {Then we caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants…} [Quran 35: 32]
As much as the Muslims pay attention to and care about the Noble Quran, their honor and status will be greater and as much as they neglect it, their destruction will be severer for the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: ‘Indeed, by this Book, Allaah would exalt some people and degrade others.’”
Let us contemplate the following important point:
How were the Arabs before sending down the Noble Quran to them? How do they become after this? There is really a big difference. They were tribes in endless fighting for the most trifle reasons. Amongst the most apparent features and attributes: worshiping idols, drinking alcohol, killing their daughters while they were a live, ignorance, poverty, and bad circumstances. Amongst the verses that portray their ignorance and foolishness is the saying of Allah, The Almighty: {And the polytheists assign to Allah from that which He created of crops and livestock a share…} [Quran 6: 136] Exalted is Allah and high above what they say by great sublimity.
Therefore, Ibn ‘Abbaas, may Allaah be pleased with them, said pointing out the ignorance of the Arab during that time: "If you wish to know about the ignorance of the Arabs, refer to Surat-al-An‘aam after verse No. 140: {Those will have lost who killed their children in foolishness without knowledge and prohibited what Allah had provided for them, inventing untruth about Allah. They have gone astray and were not [rightly] guided.}(1). [Quran 6.140].
Allah, The Almighty, stated the ignorance of the Arab regarding the aspect of morals and manners saying: {And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.} [Quran 3: 103]
He, The Exalted, also stated their ignorance regarding the aspect of beliefs saying (on their behalf): {Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing."} [Quran 38: 5], and the like of other verses.
Amongst their bad circumstances is what was reported in the Hadeeth of Abu Rajaa' Al-‘Utaaridi, may Allaah be pleased with him: "We used to worship stones, and when we found a better stone than the first one, we would throw the first one and take the latter, but if we could not get a stone then we would collect some earth (i.e. soil) and then bring a sheep and milk that sheep over it, and perform the Tawaaf (i.e. circumambulation) around it.
