Death of Adam, may Allah exalt his mention:

It was narrated on the authority of Ubbay ibn Ka‘b, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When the soul of Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, was taken, the angels embalmed and wrapped him, dug the grave and laid him in it and said: 'O Children of Adam, this is your tradition at the time of death." (1).

Location of Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, in the heaven:

It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "Abu Tharr, may Allaah be pleased with him, used to say that Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "While I was at Makkah, the roof of my house was opened and Jibreel (Gabriel), may Allah exalt his mention, descended, opened my chest, and washed it with Zamzam water. Then he brought a golden tray full of wisdom and faith, and having poured its contents into my chest, he closed it. Then he took my hand and ascended with me to the heaven. When Jibreel reached the nearest heaven, he said to the gatekeeper of the heaven, 'Open (the gate).' The gatekeeper asked, 'who is it?' Jibreel answered, 'Jibreel'. He asked, 'Is there anyone with you?' Jibreel replied, 'Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is with me.' He asked, 'Has he been called?', Jibreel said, 'Yes'. So, the gate was opened and we went over the nearest heaven, and there we saw a man sitting with Aswida (a large number of people) of his right and Aswida on his left. When he looked towards his right, he laughed and when he looked towards his left he wept. He said (to me), 'Welcome, O pious Prophet and pious son'. I said, 'Who is this man O Jibreel?' Jibreel replied, 'He is Adam, and the people on his right and left are the souls of his offspring. Those on the right are the people of Paradise, and those on the left are the people of the (Hell) Fire. So, when he looks to the right, he laughs, and when he looks to the left he weeps.' Then Jibreel ascended with me till he reached the second heaven and said to the gatekeeper, 'Open (the gate).' The gatekeeper said to him the same as the gatekeeper of the first heaven has said, and he opened the gate…" (2).

Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, mentions his sin on the Day of Resurrection:

It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah and Huthayfah, may Allaah be pleased with them, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah will assemble mankind, and the believers will stand till Jannah (Paradise) will be brought near them. They will then go to Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, and say, 'O our father, ask (Allah, The Almighty) that Jannah may be opened for us, but he will reply: 'There was nothing that put you out of Jannah except your father's sin. I am not the one to do that, go to my son Ibrahim (Abraham), may Allah exalt his mention, the beloved man of Allah…" (3).

Taking out the people of Hell:

It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The first man to be called on the Day of Resurrection will be Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, who will be shown his offspring, and it will be said to them, 'This is your father, Adam.' Adam will say (responding to the call), 'Labbayk and Sa‘dayk (I respond to Your Calls, I am obedient to Your orders).' Then Allah, The Almighty, will say (to Adam), 'Take out of your offspring, the people of Hell.' Adam will say, 'O Lord, how many should I take out?' Allah, The Almighty, will say, 'Take out ninety-nine out of every hundred." They (the Prophet's companions) said, "O Messenger of Allah! If ninety-nine out of every one hundred of us are taken away, what will remain out of us?" He, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "My followers in comparison to the other nations are like a white hair on a black ox." (4) The wording of the Hadeeth was reported by Al-Bukhaari.

It was narrated on the authority of Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah, The Almighty, will say, 'O Adam! Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, will reply, 'Labbayk and Sa‘dayk (I respond to Your Calls, I am obedient to Your orders), wal Khair fi Yadaik (and all the good is in Your Hands)!' Then Allah, The Almighty, will say (to Adam), Bring out the people of the Fire.' Adam will say, 'What (how many) are the people of the Fire?' Allah, The Almighty, will say, 'Out of every thousand (take out) nine hundred and ninety-nine (persons).' At that time children will become hoary-headed and every pregnant female will drop her load (have an abortion) and you will see the people as if they were drunk, yet not drunk; But Allah's punishment will be very severe." That news distressed the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, too much, and they said, "O Messenger of Allah! Who amongst us will be that man (the lucky one out of one-thousand who will be saved from the Fire)?" He, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Have the good news that one-thousand will be from Gog and Magog, and the one (to be saved will be) from you." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, added, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I Hope that you (Muslims) will be one third of the people of Paradise." On that, we glorified and praised Allah and said, "Allahu Akbar (Allah, The Greatest)." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I hope that you will be one half of the people of Paradise, as your (Muslims) example in comparison to the other people (non-Muslims), is like that of a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or a round hairless spot on the foreleg of a donkey." (5) The wording of the Hadeeth was reported by Al-Bukhaari.

It was narrated that ‘Imraan ibn Husayn, may Allaah be pleased with him: "We were with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, on a journey when some of his Companions fell behind. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, raised his voice reciting these two Ayat: {O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe.} [Quran 22: 1-2] When his Companions heard that, they hastened to catch up with him, since they knew that he had something to say. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Do you know what Day this is? That is the Day when Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, will be called. His Lord will call him and say: 'O Adam, send forth those who are to be sent to the Fire. He will say: O Lord! How many are to be sent to the Hellfire? He will say: From every one-thousand there are nine-hundred and ninety-nine for the Hellfire and one for Paradise." (6).

It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The first group of people who will enter Paradise, will be glittering like the full moon and those who will follow them, will glitter like the most brilliant star in the sky. They will not urinate, relieve nature, spit, or have any nasal secretions. Their combs will be of gold, and their sweat will smell like musk. The aloes-wood will be used in their centers. Their wives will be houris. All of them will look alike and will resemble their father Adam (in stature), sixty cubits tall." (7).

Location of the Grave of Adam, may Allah exalt his mention:

There are reports that explain the location of the grave of Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, but they are weak and are not authentic and thus we draw attention to them because of their weakness.

It was reported by Ad-Daarqutuni in his book As-Sunan from Ibn ‘Abbaas, may Allaah be pleased with them: "Jibreel (i.e. Gabriel), may Allah exalt his mention, led the angels in the funeral prayer of Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, and was buried in Al-Kheef Mosque." (8).

Abu Ash-Shaykh reported in Al-Athamah from Khaalid ibn Ma‘daan that when Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, died, one hundred and fifty men carried him from India to Bayt Al-Maqdis and buried him in it and made his head near by the rock."

The Isnaad (i.e. chain of transmission) of this Hadeeth includes unknown narrators and more than this that it is one of Al-Israa’eeliyyaat (reports from Jewish sources).

In conclusion, the location of the grave of Adam, may Allah exalt his mention, is not known and this is decisive opinion. This means that claiming that his grave is in a certain place has no basis at all." (9).
